Didymus the Blind: On the Holy Spirit

Didymus the Blind was born in Alexandria, Egypt in about 313 and died there in about 398. He was blinded by disease as a child, but that did not handicap his career. He was appointed as a teacher at the catechetical school, a prolific author, and a revered teacher renowned for his great memory and vast knowledge. Didymus wrote On the Holy Spirit during the period of 360-365. Didymus should be remembered as an original thinker and the author of the first systematic treatment on the Holy Spirit.
